Joybears are individually Hand Modelled Bears as collectable Gifts, Ornaments and Christmas Tree decorations. Available Mounted on China and Porcelain as Beautiful Commemorative Plates for New Baby's, Christenings, Weddings, Anniversaries, Birthdays. Joy started as a hobby in 1986, Joy made sitting bears and commemorative plates as gifts for family and friends using polymer clay. Requests for orders soon followed and new designs were added including Christmas Tree Ornaments. Joybears were shown at craft fairs across Yorkshire and soon she had to give up her job to keep pace with demand! Joybears were then exhibited at Craft Fairs across the length and breadth of England. (This was a very good excuse to have lots of holidays with our two daughters) We visited lots of lovely places and met lots of lovely people. Soon Joybears had travelled across the globe, sent and taken as gifts by our customers to their distant relatives and friends, who in turn ordered for their friends and relatives.
After our daughters went to University we achieved long held ambitions to move to the East Coast and in 2000 leased a shop in Whitby. Three exciting years followed with many other new Joybear designs being created. We had great fun! But when the lease expired we decided to return to our Cottage Industry Roots here in Scarborough, which is where we feel most comfortable. Taking life at a much more Bearable pace.
Your Own Message Can Be Added
- Messages are hand written in Vitrail ink onto the porcelain or china and not fired.
- This means we can add or adapt messages for you at no extra charge.
- Space is limited so only short messages please.
- You can also have any message with Teddygram Bears (see catalogue).
Take Care of Your Bear
To clean JoyBears carefully wipe with a slightly damp cloth Please Do Not immerse in water or use detergents or abrasives (JoyBears do not like baths!) Do not leave in sunlight as this may fade the colours over time.
